A Brazilian Mission With a Worldwide Vision...
Pastor Divino and Maria have been in Maputo, the capital city of Mozambique, since May of 202 and were the first to begin a fundamental Baptist work in the city. Divino studied and worked at the Southern Regular Baptist Seminary. Maria also studied there after their marriage. After a visit to Mozambique with a group of pastors in June of 1999, a love for the Mozambican people grew in the heart of Pastor Divino. This love was shared by Maria, though she had not yet been there. A church is already being built in one of the two properties that were bought in Maputo. The building will house the first congregation that already has about 50 people attending. Pastor Divino and Maria lead the missionary team in Maputo. They have a son, Nathanael.

Pictures of the Work
Construction Hello, we recently built a porch next to the church and also the walls on the side and front. The next step is to put concrete paving at the front and put a gate at the entrance. Later we will plaster the inside and outside the church building. Gradually our building is looking more like a church. Activities With Children Children’s Day in Mozambique is celebrated on June 1st. So that this day does not go unnoticed, we had a small celebration for them this Sunday (June 6). There were about 50 participants. There were games and a snack at the end of program. Reading, Writing, and Mathematics Classes On Saturdays, Mrs. Joan Troester has devoted time to help some children who have struggled in school. Using a more laid back approach, she has helped children to understand the areas where they have difficulties. Sunday afternoons there is a time reserved to study English where both children and adults have participated. Studies With Couples After Sunday School, Pastor Joel Troester teaches a course for couples on the porch while I take classes for youth and adolescents in the auditorium of the church. Our goal is to put in their minds the importance of obeying God's Word. Thanks for your support in every way. In Christ's love. Divino Gomes de Amorim and family. (Updated 06/06/10)
