• For the square meter campaign to buy a place for a church. (property or building); • That God would show us where we should build our church; • For the Ladies Group (visitors, evangelism, and discipleship); • For the start of a Men’s Group; • For the new converts (Nelo, Elvino, Vanessa, Alex and Natércia); • For the salvation of relatives of the new converts: the families of Gracinda, Laura, Otília; • For our children, daughters-in-law, and granddaughter; • For Neola who is very sick since she and her husbands have HIV.
God has blessed us with visitors in every church service. We have an average attendance of 50 people on Sunday. We thank the Lord that we were able to move and now all the space in the house we were in is used by the congregation. Now we will continue praying for the purchase of the property on which to build a church. FELLOWSHIP BETWEEN THE CONGREGATIONS IN ALTO MAÉ AND BAGAMOIO On December 5, we had a time of fellowship with the Congregation of Bagamoio, in a public place called Repinga, It was a great time of fellowship among brothers. EVENTS IN DECEMBER On December 20, the Lord blessed our congregation by giving us one more member. Laura was baptized in the baptistry of the Congregation of Bagamoio. The 25th was our special Christmas service, and along with our special service, we had a dinner with lots of food and refreshments where all those present participated. There was no better place to spend the 31st than in the church, and we had the missionaries (Pastor Joel and Zuleide), some of the brothers from Bagamoio, and our special guests with us. SPECIAL GUESTS We received into our homes Reginaldo, Fabio, Wesley (from Hope Baptist Church – SP), and Nathan Troester (son of Pastor Joel and Joana). They were greatly used of God to teach, testify and evangelize. We also held a VBS for the youth. It was a blessing to have an average of 70 people every night and, more importantly, souls were saved. We thank GOD for the lives of these youths who used their vacation to come to Mozambique to do the Lord’s work. We also thank the brethren at Hope Baptist Church for the presents they sent. SQUARE METER CAMPAIGN We already have already raised about $3,000 for the campaign. The price of housing in the center of Maputo varies between $50,000 and $100,000. This is why we have divided this undertaking into square meters. MBBF - BRADESCO AG. 929 C/Poup. 33585-1 Every U$ 53.00 deposit is equal to one square meter. By doing this, you are participating in the progress of the kingdom of God through the construction of a church in the capital of Mozambique in Africa. May the Lord our God give you every blessing. A big hug, Pastor Odenilson and Maria Luiza. (Updated on Feb 1, 2010)
Pastor Odenilson and Maria Luiza graduated from the Southern Regular Baptist Seminary in 2000 already with the desire to be missionaries in Africa, most especially in Mozambique, burning in their hearts. Seeking the will of God, they returned to Bahia where they were from. Pastor Odenilson assumed the pastorate of New Alliance Regular Baptist Church in Dias D'Avila, in the metropolitan region of Salvador. They also worked with professors from the Regular Baptist Seminary in Bahia and with the Independent Baptist Bible Institute. They joined MBBF in November of 2004. They received the support of AMIBREB - the Regular Baptist missionary Association of Bahia - and of the churches in Bahia. They arrived in Maputo in August of 2006 joining the missionary team in Bagamoio until God showed them where to start a new church. In October of 2007, they moved to the neighborhood of Alto Mae, closer to downtown, and began Bible studies with children, teens, and women. They closed in their backyard and began services. There! The second church in the city of Maputo was started! Odenilson and Maria Luiza have two adult sons that remain in Brazil.
