In accordance with the Articles of Faith of AIBREB - Association of Regular Baptist Churches of Brazil The Holy Scriptures We believe that the Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments, as originally written, were plenary and verbally inspired by the Holy Spirit, and because of this, are without error. We believe that the Bible is the supreme revelation of God to man and accept it as the only rule of faith and practice for life. 2 Tim. 3:16-17; 2 Pet. 1:19-21 The True God We believe in only one God, Creator of the heavens and the earth, that manifests Himself in three distinct persons: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit; the same in attributes and glory, executing distinct offices, however, harmonious in the great act of redemption. Ex. 20:2-3; I Cor. 8:6 The Lord Jesus Christ We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ was conceived by the work of the Holy Spirit - born of the Virgin Mary, and He is truly God and truly man. Being God manifest in the flesh, He lived here on earth among men. He lived a perfect life free of sin. His voluntary death was the perfect vicarious sacrifice, propitiatory and substitutive for sin. In His death He paid for the sins of all men and each person of the human race. He was buried and rose again from the dead on the third day, went up to heaven and will return imminently to resurrect/rapture His Church; and at the end of the Tribulation, or the Seventieth week of Daniel, He will return a second time to earth to establish His kingdom for 1000 years. We believe in a literal, dispensational, pre-tribulational, and Pre-millennial interpretation. Is. 7:14; Jn. 1:1,12,29; I Pet. 3:18; Matt. 28:6; Acts 15:16; Matt. 1:18-25; I Pe. 2:22; Jn.14:18; I Thess. 4:16; I Cor.15; Rev.19, 20 The Holy Spirit We believe that the Holy Spirit is a divine person who possesses all the attributes of personality and deity. He is the same as the Father and the Son. His main job in the unsaved world is to convince of sin, of justice, and of judgment. His work among the saved, in favor of them, is to seal them, inhabit, and fill them with His plenitude, enabling them with one or more gifts, guiding and teaching them to walk in the paths of justice and holiness. Jn.14:16-17, 26; Heb. 9:14; Eph.1:13-14; I Cor.12 Man We believe that man was created by God in innocence, however, he sinned voluntarily, and, fallen from the grace of God, lost his state of holiness that the Creator had given him. In consequence of the fall, all are sinners, and because of this, all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and find themselves under the condemnation of eternal ruin without any excuse or defense. Gen.1:27; Rom.5:12,19; Is.53:6; Rom. 3:23; Rom. 6:23 Salvation We believe that the salvation of sinners is entirely by grace through the mediatory work of the Son of God, without the help of any merits or human works, and to receive it, the only required condition of the sinner is that he be repentant of his sins and accept Jesus Christ by faith in Him and in His sacrifice on the cross of Calvary. With this acceptance of Christ, the sinner is born again being regenerated by the Holy Spirit and becomes a recipient of the new nature - the divine nature included in justification, forgiveness of sins, imputation of divine justice, and the possession of certain salvation, secure and eternal. Eph. 2:2; 2 Pet.1:4; Jn.10:28-29; Jn. 3:3-6; Acts 13:39; Jn.1:12; Jn.5:24; Rom.5 The Church The Church which is His Body We believe that the Church is the Body and the Bride of Christ and is made up of all those saved from Pentecost (Acts 2) until the Rapture, and that Christ is the head of all believers and members; and that the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. I Cor.12:12; Eph.1:22-23; Eph. 5:25, 27, 30, 32; Matt.16:15-19; Eph. 4:15-16 The Local Church We believe that the local church is a community of baptized believers that are associated together by a pact, in faith and in mutual fellowship, according to the Scriptures, with the purpose of observing the two ordinances, those being Baptism and the Lord's Supper, and everything that Christ has commanded; and to be governed by the law of Christ and to exercise the particular gifts, rights, and privileges in the light of the Word of God. The offices of the church, according to the Scriptures, are Bishops or Pastors, and Deacons, whose qualifications, rights, and duties are clearly defined in the Epistles to Timothy and Titus. Matt. 28:19, 29; Acts 2:41; Tit.1; Acts 2:42; 2 Tim.3 Baptism We believe that baptism is the immersion of the Christian in water, thus demonstrating through a solemn and beautiful symbolism, the faith of the person being baptized in a Savior who was crucified, buried, and resurrected, which also shows that the person being baptized has died to sin and the world, and is resurrected to new life in Christ, which is a pre-requisite for becoming a member of the local church. Being an ordinance of the local church, it should be administered by the same. Acts 8:36-39; Rom. 6:3-5 The Lord's Supper We believe that the Lord's Supper is the symbol of the body of Christ, which is the commemoration of the death of the Lord Jesus Christ until He comes. Being that it is an ordinance of the local church, it should be administered by the church to believers that are members and are in full fellowship. I Cor.10:16-17; I Cor.11:23-28 The Civil Government We believe that the Civil Government has been ordained by God for the interests of order in the human society; that we should pray for the magistrates, honor them and obey them, except in that which goes against the teachings of the Word of God. We believe in the complete and absolute separation between the government and the local church. Rom. 13:1-7; I Pet. 2:13-14; I Tim. 2:1-3 The Eternal State We believe that all that were justified by faith in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ will live in the presence of God for eternity in the full enjoyment of the celestial joy; and that those that, through impenitence and unbelief, reject the free gift of the mercy of God in Christ will live for eternity a life of punishment and eternal suffering in hell. Ps.16:11; Matt. 25:16; Jn.14:2; Lk.16; Rev. 20 Angels - Satan - Demons We believe in the existence of holy angels that are ministers of God acting in obedience to the will of God and for the good of the plan of God. Heb.1:14 We believe that demons are fallen angels. Some are in prison until the judgment and others are in prison but will be released during the Tribulation, and others are free today working in favor of Satan and against the purposes of God. Jude 6; Lk. 8; Rev. 9; Eph. 6 We believe in the existence of a personal being called Satan, the god of this world, prince of the power of the air, full of subtlety and malice, that incessantly seeks to frustrate the purposes of God and to tempt and seduce the sons of men. Is.14; Ez.29; 1 Pet.5 Creation We believe that God created all things in accordance with Genesis 1. Separation Personal We believe that every believer should walk separately from the world being that he is the son of God and his body is the temple of the Holy Spirit. Rom.12:1-2; I Cor. 6:19-20 Ecclesiastical We believe that modernism, neo-evangelicalism, ecumenism, and the charismatic movement violate biblical doctrines and principles and that believer's should not participate with such, nor give them support. 2 Cor. 6:14-18; 2 Jn.10 Clarification of Terms and Practices Ecumenical Movement It seeks the eventual union of all religions in a "Super Church." This means that each church, religion, or integral religious body will compromise its beliefs in areas of faith and practice to conform with the will of the majority. We are against the Ecumenical Movement and any dialogue with such groups. We have decided to maintain a firm stance for the purity of the Scriptures, the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ and the Christian faith described in the New Testament. 1 Cor. 6:11-18 Neo-Orthodoxy It is a form of refined liberalism that involves changing biblical terms without strict adherence to biblical truth. We are apposed to this movement. We believe and teach that the Word of God is completely destitute of error, and its authority does not depend on man accepting or rejecting of it. Jude 3; Eph. 5:11 Neo-Evangelicalism It is a movement that seeks to modify the Word of God by substituting human reasoning for the revelation of God, placing love above all the fundamental doctrines as the base for Christian fellowship, arguing for the reexamination of the fundamental doctrines of the faith. We maintain a firm position against Neo-Evangelicalism and those that promote this position. Col. 2:8; 1 Jn. 5:2-3 Charismatic Movement It teaches and argues for practices that are contrary to the Scriptures and has become a stimulating agent for a "Super Church." Speaking in tongues and healing were sign gifts that were temporary and they ceased with the completion of the Canon of Scriptures. Because of this they are no longer valid for today and their utilization will not be tolerated within the mission family. 1 Cor. 13:8 Hypercalvinism We believe that the Lord Jesus died as a propitiatory sacrifice for the sins of the world (1 Jn. 2:2) and, therefore, we do not embrace any position that denies or eliminates human responsibility, either in the proclamation or the reception of the message of the Gospel. We believe that the saved are the elect of God, chosen in Christ Jesus before the foundation of the word and that the sovereignty of God does not deny the freedom and the responsibility of man, therefore all men are genuinely invited to believe and be saved. Eph.1:4; Jn.3:16 Social Life Though we live in the world, we are not of the world (Jn.17:14). We are ambassadors of the kingdom of heaven (2 Cor.5:20; Phil.3:20). It is our obligation, therefore, to, at the very least, be different from the world. In Dress To wear clothes appropriate to gender. Dt.22:5 To dress with decency and modesty. 1 Tim.2:9 To prioritize the inner beauty that has the greatest value to God. 1 Pet.3:3-4 To not be worried about clothing. Matt.6:28-30 In Music Principle of the new song. Ps.40:1-3 The music we should sing and listen to is new, different from what we had when we were in the world from which we have been removed because we now have different, heavenly objectives. Principle of holiness. Hag.2:11-15 - When you mix something holy with something that is filthy and profane, the result is always something filthy - you cannot mix the message of the Scriptures with "rock" music or "samba" and expect the result to be pleasing to God. Principle of doubt - sin. Rom.14:23 - When in doubt, don't listen to that music. In Environments We should stay away from places that: Promote sin. Rom.6:12-13; 2 Cor.7:16 Permit sin. 1 Cor.10:23 Offer the chance to sin. Eph.4:27
